Belief 1 Threefold
The energy we put out into the world comes back to us three times as strong. This is essentially Wiccan karma. So every spell I cast is always meant with good intentions. No hexes or curses and no interfering with someone's free will. So that rules out targeted love spells as well. However there are return to sender and karma spells to send someone else's ill will back to them. It's a sort of gray area within the realm of magick. I have recently decided to add may this harm none as an end to each spell to ensure I am not causing others to suffer and to keep karma on my side.
Belief 2 Reincarnation
Most neopagans believe in reincarnation, but why do I hold this belief? I believe that each life is full of lessons to learn and after we have learned them all we reach a state of peace. This state is to become one with the universal energy. These lessons we need to learn can be difficult and seem wrong or that you are undeserving of them. However, I believe that the things that cannot be explained in this life are due to karma from a past life.
Belief 3 Spell Casting
When casting a spell you use your own energy, the universal energy, and the divine energy to create the circumstances you desire in life. Therefore I believe that spell work is basically prayer with candles. This is why not every spell takes. You may not get everything you want, but what you need will find you. However, like a spoiled child, sometimes we need some tough love in order to learn and grow as individuals.
Belief 4 Soulmates
With so many different people out there, how can there only be one match for each person. This is why I believe we have multiple people who are our soulmates. Now not every soul connection is a soulmate. There are also twin flames and soul ties. Twin flames are someone who is an ideal friend. They have the same light in their soul as you. A soulmate is someone who shares some of your passions and also compliments your differences.
Belief 5 God and Goddess
I believe in both the all father and all mother. Similar to native Americans I believe in Mother earth and Father sky. I believe in God more traditionally, but I deeply feel that the Bible was written by man to control the masses. Now most wiccans and pagans worship the horned god. As an eclectic witch this idea just doesn't work for me. That is my favorite part of this path I am on. I am free to choose.
Belief 6 Contacting the Dead
Rest in peace is a simple saying. I consider this to mean that the dead should not be contacted unless you are a medium and we're born with that capability. With my belief in reincarnation I think that either the soul you're trying to contact has already moved on or is in transition. Either way I feel that they should be left alone.
Belief 7 Consciousness and the soul
After a failed suicide attempt I saw what I thought to be the end and sadly there was nothing. Just black everywhere and I couldn't think of feel. This has led me to believe that the soul is not necessarily the consciousness. Which makes sense why we don't remember our past lives. So I still have faith that there is something after death, it just happens to be a clean slate. Faith is believe even after seeing.
Belief 8 Harming none
In the wiccan rede it states "ye harm no do what ye will". Essentially meaning as long as you harm no one do what you want. I believe this includes all living things and ourselves. So I try to be kind to animals and nature and also myself. It's important to be self compassionate and to love who you are or at least learn to.
Belief 9 Honoring our elders
All the generations before us built the world around us, through hard work and perseverance. When you see an elderly person in the street you should be kind and respectful. They were young once and you never know what role they played in society. Get close with your grandparents and parents. Of course only if possible and if they are a healthy part of your life. Learn their stories about their youth. You might find yourself inspired or at least your love and understanding of them will be deeper. Also I don't use the word old. I always try to say older. It's more polite and when you get older or if you already are I'm sure you'd prefer it said that way towards you.
Belief 10 Blood Magick
Although I do not sacrifice anyone or anything. I do use my own blood in some of my spells. It's a sort of gray area in magick. It is mine to offer and therefore does not cause harm. But can be seen as dark depending on who you ask. In my opinion it is just a way to add some potency to your magick.
Belief 11 The Atmosphere and Mindset
When performing witchcraft your space should be clear and peaceful. Both internally and externally. Your mind should be in a good and calm place. You should not cast a spell if you are overly tired, sad, angry, ect. The house or room in which you practice should be clean and organized. If not then at least your altar should be. Magick shouldn't make you feel malevolent and powerful in a cocky way. It should make you feel connected to life and the universe. You should use it to spread love and harmony into your world and the world around you.
Belief 12 Why I'm an Eclectic Witch
I have no one area of magick that calls to me. Each piece of my magick has its on special feeling to me. I just use what feels right in the moment. Almost like when drawing tarot cards. I gravitate towards whatever gives me that little spark. The energy within me kinda clicks when I've found the right thing to incorporate.
Belief 13 Religious Tolerance
I've come to realize that as mere humans we don't know what ideology or religious beliefs are truly right. All that we know for sure is that we have faith in these practices because they were here long before us. However, with so many religions around the globe, we cannot say with one hundred percent certainty that any one way is the correct path. So this being said I always try to be respectful of other people's religious freedom. Especially because I know with how strongly I believe, other people probably have just as much conviction in their own religion. Think about that the next time you attempt to sway someone towards the so-called light. This goes along with live and let live. Be tolerant and learn to coexist.
Belief 14 Fairly Take and Fairly Give
This belief is simple and important. Don't become overcome with greed. You might find this ironic as I have found a way to monetize my religion, but this blog is one of the ways I give back to my community. I try to pass on my knowledge to those who are open to receiving it and do so free of charge. I use this belief in all aspects of life. When I go out with a friend for lunch and they pay I try my best to buy lunch the next time. I also give back by donating any time I can or giving change and food to the homeless. I'm not telling you this so that you give me validation or because it makes me look good. I simply want you to think about how you could give back to the world too. Together perhaps we can make the world a better place.
Belief 15 Listening
I for many years have believed that silence in the face of opposing beliefs is the best option if you know a person can't be reasoned with. In the wiccan rede it says " Talk little, listen much". Now this doesn't mean to always hold your tongue, but as an observer I have found that you learn much more about a person when you simply listen without input. You can't truly get a sense of a situation until you step back and just allow yourself to watch without words. You can't learn new information if you are constantly talking and life is meant to be a learning experience. If you're puzzled on what to do in a particular area of life, try sitting on the question and tuning into the universal energy. If you listen long enough the answer will come. They may not be words, but signs are all around us and we are usually too busy experiencing our own interactions to notice them. So tune out of talking and start noticing.
Thank you for listening, Raven PhoenixFeather
